Hi, everyone! I figured I would make this first blog post an introduction to who I am and how I came to be the woman I am today. So, here it goes!

There have been many ups and downs in my journey to discovering how to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle, and I’m still learning more each day. As a teenager, I struggled with distorted body image and disordered eating patterns, and it wasn’t easy to escape, especially as a dance major in a performing arts high school. After leaving dance behind me, I reached out for help during my first year of college and I was finally both happy and healthy. I then found the world of bodybuilding and began my journey as a bikini competitor. Was it the best decision to make after months of mending a broken mind? No. But it’s okay because it all led me to where I am today!

I struggled, I succeeded, and I struggled again. These experiences are what sparked my interest in nutrition, and learning more about the body and the amazing things it’s capable of. Earning my degree in nutrition simply sparked an even bigger flame in my heart for the health industry, not only for my personal gain from it, but to share my knowledge and education with others. I want to help because I’ve been there. I know how difficult it can be to live with a distorted view of oneself and to accept help, but I also know how difficult it can be to realize the fifteen extra pounds of weight gain that have got to go; I’ve been there before and I got myself out of it.

After experiencing both drastic ends of the spectrum, I learned how to find a healthy balance between the two. I now know that it is possible to enjoy a life that includes both apples AND donuts; a life where the gym is a place to de-stress and blow off steam, not a place to stress over having to go to; a life where eating an ice cream sandwich can be a weekly date night with my other half, without feeling guilty for eating the whole thing.

This self-discovery is what I want to share with others. I want everyone to realize that the life I described above—a life of balance—is a life that is possible for everyone, and I am living proof of it! There are ways to make this life a reality, and I have created this website and started this blog to help you do so!
